A New and Unique Perspective

Blog Focus

This being the first blog entry in The Joel Chernoff Report (TJCR) I take the liberty (since it’s my blog) to give some direction as to its future content. TJCR will look at and comment on a wide range of issues and events surrounding the Biblically prophesied physical and spiritual restoration of Israel.

Since I am very aware of these prophecies as I study them in Scripture, I believe that we live in a time when we are seeing Biblical prophecy come alive and be fulfilled. We know from Scripture what the prophetic trajectory looks like and now we have the privilege of seeing these events unfold before our eyes. These are both terrifying and exciting times.

The interesting thing about Biblical prophecy is that God chooses to share with us what I call “prophetic/signpost events”. He chooses not to tell us exactly when and where or even in what order various important prophetic events will happen. He simply states that these events will transpire in the prophetic period called the “Last Days”. In Scripture the “Last Days” is that time period just before the Messiah returns to Jerusalem and sets up His Kingdom over the whole earth. The reason these prophecies were given to us by God was to help us know that His return was imminent.

What do Messianic Jews believe about the Messiah?

Many within today’s Jewish world either do not believe the Messiah has come or don’t know or care. Messianic Jews (like me) believe that the Messiah has come and that He is returning at the end of the prophetic period called the “Last Days”. He is known to Messianic Jews by His Hebrew name, Yeshua while the western world knows him in English as Jesus.

How do we know we are in the “Last Days”?

There are two significant prophetic events” that confirm with certainty that we are in the “Last Days”.

Israel is Born

Israel is Born

1.  The Physical Restoration of the Nation of Israel: (ie the Jewish people being re-established in her original land grant) This event was prophesied over and over both in the Tenach (Old Testament) and in the Brit Chadasha (New Testament). This was only to happen in the “Last Days” and indeed this was fulfilled in 1948 after almost 2000 years of exile, with the re-establishment of the State of Israel. Significantly, this is the only time in history that a nation was disbursed from its original homeland and later restored to the very same homeland as a people. This was indeed a miraculous prophetic fulfillment.

2. The Spiritual Restoration of Israel: The Jewish prophets foretell a massive spiritual awakening will sweep the nation of Israel in the “Last Days” and move our people to a place of right relationship with God. I believe that Messianic Judaism also known as the Messianic Jewish Movement is that revival.

Why I believe Messianic Judaism is that revival?

In 1967 there were fewer than 2000 Messianic Jews in the US. Today that number, according to Jewish population studies in the US, estimates the number at between one to two million in the US alone. In 1967 there were zero Messianic synagogues and today there are over 700 worldwide and those numbers are increasing faster than anyone can keep track.

Consequently, I can confidently assert that since 1967, Messianic Judaism is the fastest growing stream of Jewish religious life on the planet today. This movement is not the product of any person or organization but simply the work of God’s Spirit in fulfillment of prophecy according to God’s purposes and plans.

Middle East Conflict

israeli-flag-burning1Having said all of the above you can see why the events and continuing conflict surrounding Israel are so important. The spiritual and physical restoration of Israel is central in God’s prophetic plan for planet earth and the Messiah’s second coming is inextricably and prophetically connected to Israel’s restoration. Indeed Yeshua himself said that He will not return to Israel until the Jewish people say “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Last word on TJCR focus

TJCR will specifically focus on events surrounding Israel, her allies and her enemies and bring a Messianic Jewish and prophetic perspective to those events.

For Messiah’s glory,

    Dear Joel:
I am forwarding your email to everyone I know because these events and your commentary on them are so important. Even non-believers have to admit they see the events unfolding as you described and what a witnessing opportunity for we Texas Southern Baptists with our brothers and sisters in the Messianic Jewish community. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Let me know how I can help.

  8. Joel,
Glad to see you doing a blog, and on such important topics! You’re right–these are both terrifying and amazing times in which to be living, and the rate at which things are happening now is breathtaking. Well, the Lord did say in His word that the days would be shortened, or no flesh would be saved….don’t know if that verse is supposed to apply yet, or only during the tribulation period of seven years, but I can’t help but think of those words now. Bless you for your efforts to keep us informed! Baruch HaShem!

  9. Joel,
    Na’im Me’od!!
Enjoyed the blog and looking forward to more. We live in exciting times and you are delivering an important message. Shalom!!

  10. The only reason they want a Palestinian state is so that when Israel defends itself they can be accused of attacking a sovereign state and that will give the UN an excuse to condemn Israel.

  11. Dear Joel
    Isaiah 43:5-7
    Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, Do not hold them back.’
Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth-
7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Our Lord Elohim is calling us back for the restoration of Israel. Our enemies had forgoten that we are the promised children given to Abraham, and yes; we, His descendants are hearing His Voice all over the world; His calling to do what we have to do now; guided by His Ruach haKodesh ( Holy Spirit ) . We are many, we cannot be counted; and we are listening and doing a little here, a little there… in order to fullfill our part in prophecy and working toward what we know is to happen soon. Yeshua is coming back! So they (our enemies both physical and spiritual ) can go ahead and talk all they want, they can bombard all the rockets to try to run us out of our land; they can even try to keep spliting the land (politically speaking) and none of it is going to work, because we, His children are called to come back home. Physically and Spiriyually We Are Back! A few hundred here a few hundred there; we are being called, His Army, The Bones mentioned in Ezequiel. What Elohim promised, He is fullfilling. I am from the Spanish side of the picture; If you can translate your work in different languages ( a little here… a little there…) you will see the results… Que Yeshua te continue bendiciendo !

  12. Dear Joel
    Isaiah 49: 22-23
22 This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring their sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.
23 Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers.
They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be dissapointed.”

    Dear Joel,

Many thanks to you for the creation of your blog. Its actually a development in the right direction.

Having said that, I leaving comment to also thank you for the information on your blog, regarding the growth of Messianic Judaism and congregations here in the United States. Its awesome…

    One mpre thing here Joel:

I strongly feel in my spirit, that GOD Almghty, through the manifestations of the HOLY SPIRIT, would someday unleash Messianic Jews residing outside of Israel (United States, Canada, Europe, etc., to bring other Jews (non-believing Jews), to acknowledgement of YAHSHUA as the Messiah of the Jewish people, and of all mankind… what do you think?

I strongly believe that this is going to be accomplished by a mighty move of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Let us not forget that our Heavenly Father (The GOD of the Spirits of all Flesh), promised that He will pour out His spirit upon all flesh.

Shalom… and many thanks and blessings!

      Shalom Michael,
I do believe that this is the prophetic time period for the spiritual restoration of Israel and that Messianic Jews represent the first fruits of that revival. One day soon I believe that Messianic Jews will be the majority in Israel not because I have anything to contribute to that effort but because we are at the right time and place in God’s prophetic plan. When you add to that the trajectory of evidence in real numbers within the Messianic jewish community to confirm that this is happening now it gets very exciting.

  15. I do not understand what the excitement is about. It’s rather confusing. The people in Israel right now are not descendants of Abraham. They are Gentiles. Ashkenaz meaning Germans. Germans are Gentiles. Jews? Jewish? The tribe of Judah? Where are the other 11 tribes if this is the biblical return.

This is all wrong. They do not in any way fit all the biblical prophecies from Genesis to Revelation concerning the Children of Israel. They are Gentiles. This is wrong. all wrong and Yahweh will soon prove that it is.

Where are the twelve Tribes of Israel? The entire twelve tribes were never called Jews. Each tribe is known by their own names. Gentiles cannot be Israelites. Sorry, it’s just not right.
